Essential oils are foundations of aromatherapy and are used to influence the mind, body and spirit. Essential aromatherapy oils are the concentrated extracts of plants; including flowers, fruits, and their roots and stems.
Essential oils are extracted from the plants usually by the means of distillation and are then concentrated into the oils which you can purchase. Essential oils must be diluted by mixing them with other oils known as carrier oils. Only a few pure essential oils like lavender and tea tree can be applied directly to the skin, all others should be diluted with carrier oils.
To enjoy the maximum benefit of aromatherapy oils, the most common method is to massage the oils into your skin which has a large surface area.
